Measuring Pertamina Durability
From the point of view of corporate strategy, of course, two main things must be done. The first is from the point of simplification of the cost structure where the goal of cost efficiency must be implemented immediately.
Several corporate actions related to increasing the capacity of the new refinery plant need to be realized immediately. Likewise, the increase in distribution capacity that reaches the outermost islands needs to be improved.
Similarly, the efficiency that must be pursued from various imports of fuel products is controlled by Pertamina’s Internal Supply Chain. Of course, these steps can make Pertamina’s cost structure in the long term more competitive.
The second is of course a strategy related to increasing corporate revenue from operating commercial products. The main source, of course, is the increase in sales in Pertamina’s upstream and downstream sectors.
In the upstream sector, efforts to increase lifting must be a priority, both in domestic and overseas oil fields. Several incidents in domestic where the lifting capacity has decreased from the operation of the termination block which is currently controlled by Pertamina must be a concern.
In the downstream sector, Pertamina can operate various products with better performance, including the renewable energy (EBT) sector. Of course, it takes a big investment for the development of this EBT. Therefore, efforts to collaborate with global investors are needed to accelerate investment in this sector, including utilizing the facilities offered by the Indonesia Sovereign Wealth Fund.
